Acute & Chronic Pain Models
Pharmaseed Bioservices offers a battery of models for the assessment of acute and chronic pain in vivo. A list of Pharmaseed's experimental pain models includes the following:
Chronic pain
- Post operative pain
- Neuropathic pain
- Inflammatory pain
Acute pain
- Formalin-induced pain
- Acetic acid writhing/ visceral-induced pain
Pharmaseed employs a battery of disease-oriented behavioral modalities for the assessment of sensory and motor functions. Such assessments are performed by PharmaSeed's experienced staff and undertaken in a computerized and video-monitored arena. Typical outcome measures include pain qualitative clinical score, sensory evaluation (Von Frey), hot plate, weight bearing, tail flick and paw pressure.

Figure I: Changes in the responses to stimulating the plantar hind paw with a Von Frey hair as a measure of neuropathic pain (Chung neuropathic pain model).

Figure II: Measurement of post operative pain utilizing the Brennan rat model.
